There’s a massive wave of change and rebirth happening.

Have you been feeling it?

I suspect that this is a collective undertaking where we are being called to release what no longer serves us in a gigantic way so we can rise to a bigger and more empowered version of ourselves.

It just feels like the intensity with which this has been happening has been greater than we had expected, right?

For me, the numbers 11, 11:11, 1:11 have been showing up all the time when I look at the clock. It seems that when you see the numbers 11 frequently it’s a sign of rebirth, renewal and new beginnings. No sh*t!

Life is all about contrasts.

To have a rebirth we must undergo death.

To feel joy and freedom we must go through sadness, fear and breakdowns.

To discover deeper parts of ourselves we must sit in a place of limbo, self-inquiry and introspection.

To find clarity we must linger in the fogginess of the unknown for a while.

In the midst of significant transitions, it feels scary.  It feels intense and we aren’t sure what to do next.

In the last month, I have undergone a massive change.

I traveled to Brazil to help my mother settle into our home country.

I returned to NYC to a new home in Brooklyn: new apartment, new neighbourhood, new routine, new supermarkets, people, everything (pics below).

And my friends are going through this too.

Friends are having babies that they hadn’t anticipated.

Friends of friends have died unexpectedly. People have lost their pets.

Serious illnesses, car accidents, and other major unexpected life events have happened.

And whether they were unexpected or expected, change is upon us.

So how do we deal with it all?

We create some breathing space.

We slow down.

We stop and feel.

We embrace the discomfort of the unknown.

Many of my clients are also starting new businesses, getting divorced, changing careers and whether by choice or circumstance, they are being led to new and exciting paths.

As we embark through big changes – both personal and collective – we are called to deepen our practice of self-care.

I mention this because upon landing in US soil last week, I have become a self-professed vegetable.

My body crashed.

I have been sleeping and watching TV unlike ever before.

I take strolls in Prospect Park (a couple blocks from my house).

I wake up without a big agenda.

My work days have been reduced to 2 hours and no more.

The desire to work: zero.

The creativity: limited.

The answers: still unknown.

And, I have chosen to surrender to it.

Whether you have the chance to stop and slow down like me or your life feels like a whirlwind, I invite you to give yourself breathing room to slow down and to just BE with everything that’s going on in your life – even if just for a few minutes in a day.

Doing is overrated. The juice of life is in allowing yourself to just BE via @sweetpathgirl. {Tweet it}.

“BEING” is where the magic lies.

As many of my friends who are coaches are recovering from exhaustion themselves, they have been writing about self-care.

So today, my message is a simple but profound one: TAKE CARE OF YOU.

Carve out some breathing space for yourself. Like really.

Take a walk.

Sleep in.

Cancel an appointment and do what you want to do instead.

Follow the natural rhythms of your body.

Embrace the flow.

Do less.

Surrender to what you need in the moment.

BE wherever you are.

BE with your emotions. Cry, stew, procrastinate, call a friend and watch a TV show together while chatting.

Change takes a huge toll on our emotional, physical and spiritual bodies.

Allow your body time to catch up with it all.

It’s been a tough year for all of us in different ways.

Even good change is still a lot for us to take in.

So go easy.

Be kind to yourself.

Work with your body so it doesn’t force you to stop.

And honour your process, your pace, your natural body rhythms and trust that in being more and doing less, the answers, the tears, the joy and the clarity will come at the Divine time.

The magic of life only ever happens in the present.

So sit back, grab the remote control, and relax in your comfy chair with a warm cup of tea.

Tomorrow can wait.

I give you permission to slow down and to CHOOSE “EASY” if you’re having a hard time or feeling guilty doing it for yourself.
