This last week I had a significant realization around my relationship to money that cracked open a whole new level of freedom and consciousness.
I realized that everything I felt about money was a direct reflection of how my father treated me with money.
It was highly dysfunctional, toxic and a mind fuck juxtaposition of: “You have everything money can buy” AND massive instability feeling it could all be taken away at any given moment.
Money was linked to survival and safety and when it showed up, I made sure to use it to the fullest since the next lump sum always was an uncertain prediction.
And, now, as I’m poised to receive very large sums of money for my purpose-driven work, greater than I ever have, I came upon a disturbing feeling: That no matter how much I made, I’d never have enough money.
It didn’t make sense to me because I believe in a bountiful Universe.
However, because my experience with money was that it was a constant energy available to me AND that it could be taken away at any moment, it felt like it was elusive, evasive and not a stable energy in my life.
So, naturally, the idea of any money that comes my way, would feel that way as well. Here now, gone in a flash.
The huge silver lining in this unveiling has been the blessing that I – like you – am not broken when it comes to having, making, receiving and growing wealth.
My choices and past experiences may have very well been an unstable one but I realized a very important distinction:
I was projecting every single experience I’d had with my father and money, onto the energy of money itself.
Once I was able to see that my experiences, beliefs and feelings about money were a PROJECTION and a REFLECTION of my money story with money, I could consciously extract that reflection away from money and back where it belonged: onto my father.
I was free from feeling that money was punishing me, like I felt my dad could with his money, and that I could never have a handle on my relationship to money.
Now money had a chance to be what it is: a neutral tool that I could use with my energy, my expression and my Truth.
I can’t tell you how big of a relief this was.
It removed the dark cloud of the past that created the freedom for me to make more conscious choices that reflect the Truth about myself and money’s loving energy without the “menage a trois” of my father’s energy in the dysfunctional mix.
