The last 7 days in San Diego have been magical, special and have royally kicked my butt.

My quick note to self is that even while living in a gorgeous, sunny city and in a beautiful home, you will have emotions that come up that will challenge you.

There’s stuff that comes up before we start living our dream and then AS we are living it as well.  The onion peeling continues.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Stay open to following the energy of the moment.

There are forces greater than ourselves at play in creating magical experiences. Connect to your intuition and stay in the flow. Flow also means a deeper and heightened sense of trust, surrender and faith that the next step, the next opportunity, the next ___ will present itself at the right moment or 11th hour. It means letting go of control and in the midst of that – allowing for magic to show up.

2. Ask for help.

Even when we are super clear on our desires, it can feel vulnerable to ask for help because people can reject us or we can seem “not all with it.” But it is a lesson in receiving and also in allowing others and the Universe to support us. Very important: when others reach out for help – say YES (I did the “I’m ok” thing when I really wasn’t and thankfully my dear friend called me out on my B.S.). Thank you!

3. Your sh*t will come up.

Even sunny, gorgeous weather and living a beautiful home can trigger you. A new space, a new routine and none of the familiar defaults to hide behind. Allow room to be with the feelings, take a time out to decompress from work and to allow the emotions and changes to integrate. This is all good as it is a part of the expansion and releasing process – and it will suck for a little while. Embrace expansion and it can get a little easier. So be gentle with yourself.

4. Get super clear on what you REALLY desire.

Get super clear on what you really desire. For me, that has meant acknowledging that I want to be living by the ocean, that I choose to make new, mutually inviting friendships and creating the space to invite that in.

5. Celebrate living the dream.

You ARE living it – that’s f*g awesome. And you and your dream are still a work in progress…not perfect. You will stumble, fall, and there will be parts that still won’t look and feel like the dream. But that’s where gratitude, a perspective shift, a call with a BFF, a coach (or in my case both), will set you straight. What do you have to complain about when you actually LIVE the dream? Yes, there’s discomfort and you’re stretching but you’re doing it and that brings up it’s own issues of deservability and wondering what others might think of you etc. But you can be the example and the inspiration for others to do the same.

6. There is a shedding process.

As you align more with your dream, you will be called to release those parts of you that were in the way of truly living it. If you choose freedom and ease, then those old habits that created struggle and hardship will show up so they can be released. It’s normal. Just roll with it and raise your awareness. Feel. Breathe. Release and be gentle.

7. Get Fearless and stop worrying about what other people think.

On Valentine’s Day,  I went to a night club with NEW girl friends, I got kissed on the dance floor twice, got twirled and had men I DIDN’T KNOW wish me Happy Valentine’s Day.

My reframe: What would I do if I knew I was supported and I didn’t care what anyone else thought of me?

This weekend was a perfect example of this.

On Valentine’s Day,  I went to a night club with girl friends, I got kissed on the dance floor twice, got twirled and had men wish me Happy Valentine’s Day. I danced to my heart’s content not worrying about others. When I started feeling self-conscious, I told myself, I was ok being myself and kept dancing.

I often feel awkward being in nightclubs but I chose to be happy and to stretch myself over being afraid. I had an awesome group of girlfriends and the place was awesome so I let loose and it was SO LIBERATING.

Then that night, a friend asked me to drive her BMW convertible back to her house the next day because she was too tipsy to drive. Gulp! New car, new roads and I had no idea where I was going but I said YES. And I got that initial fear of driving in a new city (in a gorgeous new car) out of my system. Sweet.

With each interaction, with each stretch, there is SO much to learn about ourselves and where we are still holding ourselves back from being happy in the moment.

That’s why living our dream is so powerful. It supports us in stretching into the best version of ourselves: wiser, more open and more aligned with our desires.

I am so grateful to my amazing new friendships for teaching me to kill the drama, f**k what others think, to stretch myself and to know that I am supported. I’ve got this and that all is well.

If we didn’t need approval from others, if we didn’t “need” our clients, if we got to powerfully love our lives from our Truth, how would we live instead?

What new and empowering choices would we make? What compromises would we bypass?

Some food for thought.

And finally, here is my prayer while here:

Dear God,
Shower me with new beginnings, magical moments, wonderful, beautiful, happy thoughts, gorgeous people, mutually nourishing exchanges of energy, miracles, goodness, abundant life force energy, the willingness to follow my intuition and desires and help me to see and receive all of this into my world today. God, please help me to trust you and your Divine plan as we co-create it together. Amen.

More to come. Stay tuned.
