First blog of 2016!

Happy New Year!

I’m so excited to be reconnecting with you in my first newsletter of 2016 (woohoo!).  Below is a photo of my parents and I visiting a Buddhist temple here in Sao Paulo.

While I’m on sabbatical this month with my family in Brazil, I wanted to take a quick moment to share a few cool tips that I’m implementing myself to get 2016 off to happy, strong and juicy start.

Whether you are recovering from a holiday hangover (emotional, physical or both) or you’re all geared up to take 2016 by storm, these 4 cool tips below will help you make the most out of your days and live your dreams with gusto.

Let’s go!

Tip: #1 Do more of what feels good to you.

Mantra: “I make loving choices that are in my highest and best good.”

Whether your day is already going fabulously well, or you’re ready to kick your latest funk to the curb, one of the fastest ways I know to feel better is to engage in activities that make me feel better.

Examples:
Self-care:

  • take a 10 minute walk to clear your head; dance or just move your body to get the endorphins going
  • do some organizing or any activity that requires you to focus on it so you interrupt your old patterns
  • think of an animal, place or person that makes you smile
  • take a long shower
  • take up a hobby like a mandala colouring book, jewelry making
  • talk to a friend
  • focus on what you DO want and take steps in that direction
This step naturally implies doing less of what doesn’t feel good (thoughts, feelings etc…).

Remember that energy is everything so the more you feel good, the more you allow creativity, magic, ease and possibility into your life.

Tip #2: Focus on what YOU want

You’ve heard me say this before. The most important question you can ask yourself is “what do I want?” in any given situation.  Being happy and living your truth requires us to get real and live our dreams over other people’s demands of us.

In addition to asking the question of what I want, I focus on a theme or a word for the year that I choose to keep me focused.

Since last year I’ve allowed myself to come up with a word that I want to use to guide my year. Of course you can have a few of those. This year, my word is adventure. I think of Star Trek and allowing myself to boldly go where I haven’t gone before. Implied within adventure is being bold and courageous.

Whether your goals are super clear or still rather in flux, allow yourself to set an intention for how you want to feel this year as you go through it.  It might be intentional, joyous, free, brave. Let your word or your theme be your compass for the new year and have fun with it!

Tip #3: Choose the lightness

You might have heard me talk about this last year and my clients are very familiar with this incredibly valuable distinction.

As you embark on the thousands of decisions you will be making in 2016, here is a simple question to help you connect to your Truth so you do what’s in your highest interest and not in someone else’s.

“Does this choice {x} feel light or does it feel heavy?
The light choice always is our truth. The heavy choice is a lie and often involves us saying things like ” I must … I should… I have to”.

Practice using this question with every decision from what to have for breakfast, whether to hire a particular coach or travel to an event, etc. It cuts out a lot of the drama and helps you connect to your truth.  The key is to trust the lightness even if it doesn’t make sense or feel easy in the moment.

Trust me, this tool alone can change your life and best of all: IT WORKS!

Tip #4: Ask empowering questions

The key to staying in a mindset and an energy of possibility is to ask questions that support us to invite what we truly want into our lives.

We fall so easily into judgments and conclusions that shut us off from the thousands of possibilities out there that we can receive.

Access Consciousness bookHere are a couple of questions I learned from a modality called Access Consciousness that can help you get started. And, if you want to learn more about Access Consciousness and its power to help you transform your energy and how you be in the world, check out Dr. Dain Heer’s book: Being You, Changing the World.

1. What else is possible in this situation?
2. What would it take for (your desire)?

Give these a shot for a few days and I’d love to hear what’s begun to shift for you!
