I know I’m popping back in your inbox very soon but I felt compelled to share this insight with you today.
Years ago, a dear colleague shared in her speaking course this phrase:
“Don’t say the right thing, say the TRUE thing.” I’m forever grateful to KC Baker for this potent distinction.
In a world where we are told to use hype, big words and to follow formulas to catch people’s attention, we’ve lost sight of or given up our voice.
As I’m deep into the inquiry of what matters most to me, my identity and positioning moving forward in my own work, I noticed that the moment I stopped trying to find the “right” words or to “appear professional” but rather I dug into this simple question:
What’s MY truth here?
What do I believe?
The words and the energy started flowing.
*** The truth is always, always, always within us. *** If you’ve been in my world for a hot minute, you know I always return to this.
It may take some courage and some digging to pull it out and to put it into an articulate form, but it’s always there!
And I realize that at our core we are HUNGRY for humans and leaders who do TWO things:
1. They showcase the DEPTH OF THEIR CONVICTIONS
2. They express the BREADTH of themselves in their daily lives.
Depth AND Breadth.
Show me what you really believe in.
Show me ALL of who you really are.
THIS is what makes us resonant, congruent with ourselves, authentic and REAL.
This is what we are hungry for.
This is what people are hungry for from YOU.
=> Are you willing to share what you REALLY BELIEVE IN, even an inch more than yesterday?
=> Do you feel safe in sharing the parts of yourself that you’ve feared taking out of the closet to share with folks? If not, is it safe to do some work on yourself to shift this?
=> Can you feel SEEN by yourself and then let others SEE YOU and let your courage inspire them to do the same?
