Last week on my flight back to San Diego, I sat next to a handsome and incredibly articulate man.
It almost wouldn’t have happened had I not gotten the nudge to ask the ticket counter agent to change my seat assignment.
It was the last aisle seat on the plane all the way in the back by the bathrooms and “kitchen” area.
I didn’t care.
Something in my gut told me it would be worth the switch.
When I sat down, I saw this handsome man sitting next to me (something new for me).
Even though I was super tired, I said hello and we started talking.
Four hours in, we were discussing our favourite cities to travel to, whether we liked Picasso, Miro or Monet’s paintings better, our passion for good food, holistic health and medicine, and so much more.
I was so intrigued by how easy the conversation was.
I even scrolled through his Kindle to see the fascinating books he was reading on everything from Ghandi to philosophy and medical literature since he is a doctor.
It was so incredibly refreshing to have such an easy conversation with a man who had so many similar interests to me.
It reminded me that amazing men are still are out there (even if this one was happily married).
Why am I telling you this?
Because sometimes we have to be willing to follow our intuition and be willing to do something different than we’ve always done, so we can get a different result.
We must be willing to trust our gut even when we are afraid to move forward and fail.
Before, I would have just turned over and slept so I wouldn’t have to feel uncomfortable and start a conversation with a man I didn’t know.
